Originality, irony, mystery. And a powerful personality. These are the hallmarks of Danny Elfman’s music—the man behind the soundtracks of nearly all of Tim Burton’s films—who will be joined by the RTVE Orchestra & Choir. Much more than a great composer, he is a true rock star, as you will be able to witness in his striking live performance.
By the mid-1980s, the Californian already had a solid musical background, but his life changed when a young Tim Burton commissioned him to write the music for his feature film debut, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985).
He then became the renowned filmmaker’s go-to composer, responsible for the scores of iconic films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990), Big Fish (2003), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), and Alice in Wonderland (2010), among others.
Far removed from the academicism and pomp favored by other celebrated film composers, Danny Elfman reveals himself live as a ferocious stage presence, commanding an imposing musical machine with which he recreates the unsettling, disturbing, and magnetic universe that fuels his imagination. A true spectacle.
