The Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), managed by Fira de Barcelona, becomes the European hub of the film industry from June 16 to 19 with the 34th edition of CineEurope. This annual convention brings together more than 4,000 attendees, including exhibitors, distributors, and representatives from major Hollywood and European studios, who present and discover the most anticipated upcoming releases. The event also showcases the latest technological innovations for cinemas, along with offering conferences and an exhibition area. For the 34th consecutive year, The Coca Cola Company will be the offical corporarte sponsor of CineEurope.
Produced by The Film Expo Group, CineEurope is the official convention of the International Union of Cinemas (UNIC), an international trade association representing cinema exhibitors and their national associations across 38 European territories with the aim of promoting the cultural, social, and economic value of cinema.
CineEurope, held at the CCIB since 2012, features the participation of several international studios, including Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros, Universal Pictures International, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, StudioCanal, Angel Studios, and Lionsgate, among others. These studios offer exhibitors exclusive, closed-door presentations and screenings of upcoming films set to be released in cinemas worldwide in the coming months.
The CCIB Forum Auditorium, transformed into a grand cinema hall
To ensure an immersive, top-quality experience, the CCIB Forum Auditorium has been transformed into a true cinema, featuring a 16.95 x 7.10 meter screen, Hugo technology from Harkness Screens, eight Barco RGB laser projectors with up to 4K resolution — two in HDR, along with 3D technology provided by RealD. The sound system, with 50 K.C.S. speakers set up in Dolby 7.1, is complemented this year by a new comprehensive acoustic correction system to optimize the cinematic projection conditions.
Innovations and trends
The event also features an extensive 7,900 m² exhibition area, with over 60 leading companies in the sector that will showcase the latest technologies and concessions applied to cinema exhibition. At the same time, the CineEurope program offers an intensive schedule of conferences and seminars, led by prominent industry professionals, exploring current trends and future challenges. Year after year, thousands of cinema professionals travel to Barcelona to attend this convention, making it a key space for knowledge exchange, networking, and the creation of business and strategic alliances among the sector’s main players.
As part of the program, the “CineEurope Gold Awards” will also be presented, recognizing the career and commitment of industry professionals, as well as the Exhibitor and International Distributor of the Year awards, the “UNIC Achievement Award“, which honors outstanding contributions to the European film industry, and the Comscore European Box Office Achievement Award for the highest-grossing film of the year.
